Month in Review: January 2014

I can’t believe we’re already over a month into 2014! January was a great month here on the blog – I managed to fit in 27 posts! That’s the third highest total in blog history, though the other two were achieved when I had my Instagram account linked to the blog, so I really don’t think they should count! Regardless, I’m off to a good start on my resolution to blog more in 2014 than I ever have before.

January on the blog started with a review of 2013, which as always proved to be a crazy year! Soon after, I discovered that I had been featured in the Sacramento Bee for an article on Christmas cards. It was pretty awesome to see the blog’s name in print.

Although I received many incredible gifts for Christmas, I shared my favorite with you: the 10+ Year Journal I received from Brian. I’m only a month into it, and already I can’t wait to record the next decade of our life!

In an effort to save a bit of money and work with more natural products, Brian and I also tackled making our own laundry soap – it was a bit of a challenge but I’m happy to say we’re loving the finished product so far! Our clothes are coming out incredibly clean with no residue, marks, or fading! Not to mention that we now have laundry soap for the next year or so!

Cooking is also another great way we’ve been saving money – trying to eat in as much as possible not only cuts cost, but it means leftovers! This month I shared recipes for Kale and Corn Stuffed Chicken, Healthy Banana/Oat “Cookies,” Cheesy Lasagna Soup, and Poblano and Pomegranate Chicken.

Of course my Filofax had to make an appearance in January, where I shared both my 2014 set up and how I use my weekly pages. Both posts featured videos since readers have been demanding them!

While I’m still on planners, I also reviewed the Quo Vadis Journal 21 book I received after winning a competition around Thanksgiving. I can’t wait until I have a full time job so I can put this thing to use!

Of course no month in my life would be complete without a little bit of DIY and crafting, so I shared my quick little fix for recipe organization, along with my DIY cork board project. I’ve got one more idea in the works to update the cork board – hopefully I can wrap that up this week so I can share it with you!

That pretty much wraps up January! How was your month? Are you as baffled as I am about how we’re already in the second month of 2014?
