Update: Inspections of the Home + Knee

Hi all! Just a quick check in during a CRAZY couple of weeks. Our home inspection was yesterday, and I’m happy to say that there were NO major concerns at the time of inspection! There were several minor things, but they were to be expected in an older home (this one was built in 1939).
Today we have the sewer company coming out just to make sure no tree roots have decided to make their home in our plumbing. We also have a masonry expert coming out to check the chimney and get an estimate for repairs. We still have a LONG way to go before I’ll officially call this home ours, but it is really nice getting a step closer every few days!
In not so exciting news, I’m scheduled for knee surgery on Friday. I’ve been dealing with a bit of knee pain since last April… it’s especially bad when running, which I love to do. I’ve been working with a physical therapist and a surgeon to try minimally invasive treatment, but it looks like we’re at the point where the surgeon needs to get a better look at what is going on from inside.

Thankfully, it is an arthroscopic surgery, so my recovery time will be much, much faster. But it is still surgery, so I certainly still have a bit of anxiety. I scheduled it for Friday so I would be able to have a full weekend of down time – I’m sure I’ll spend it looking for home improvement ideas, paint colors, and decor! And maybe even a blog update or two…

  1. Congrats on the house! I am sure you are ready to get it settled. Sorry about the knee surgery, I hope and pray for a speedy recovery for you!

  2. I'm glad the inspection went well! On to the next phase!

Sorry to hear about your knee surgery. I recently had sinus surgery, and while my type was much less invasive than the traditional, I was super nervous too. But all went well, so it will for you, too! let us know how it goes!!!

  3. Yes! Now we just have to wait for the appraisal. Fingers crossed.

And I will! Honestly, at this point I'm more excited to be pain free than I am nervous about the surgery. We'll see if I'm still in that mindset tomorrow morning…
