On being thankful

I’m a pretty cynical person. Especially when it comes to holidays. With the exception of a very few, I feel that most holidays are a way to get gifts, chocolates, or flowers. Yes, I’m talking about you, Valentine’s Day. Don’t even get me started on Sweetest Day.

That being said, Thanksgiving is a holiday I believe in. Not the Indians and Pilgrims chilling out eating turkey part, since we know that is a complete load of… nevermind. I’m not going down that road.

But the being thankful part I do believe in. And while I believe in being and am grateful everyday, I see nothing wrong with taking a little time out on one day of the year to exclaim our thanks.

So…

I’m thankful for my family, as crazy as they can be.

I’m thankful for Brian, who has been nothing short of my hero, rock and soulmate.

I’m thankful for this blog, in that it gives me a place to share my thoughts, laughs, and tears.

And, of course, I’m thankful for my readers, fellow bloggers, and friends- none of this would be worth it without you. In the past 150 or so posts, you guys have become more than readers, you have become my friends. Even those of you who I’ve never met and live thousands of miles away. I’ve come to realize that you are some of the first people I want to turn to with a new recipe, crazy story, or bad day. That in itself is pretty amazing.

So, THANK YOU to everyone in my life, whether I see you on a daily basis or have never met in person. You all give me so much to be thankful for.

  1. Oh, you and I have the same feelings about Valentine's Day – I hate it! It's just a way to get people to spend money on garbage they don't need to buy or eat. But that's just my opinion. 😉 Thank you for such a wonderful blog!
